“Cape Town [is the most interesting place I’ve been]! I went to Cape Town for the winter break in my sophomore year and I truly fell in love with it. Cape town is surrounded by beaches, mountains, and friendly people. I got to see sharks, whales, dolphins, and even penguins! Another thing I found interesting is the South African accent - the sexiest English accent ever. It sounds like a mix of British, Australian, or maybe Dutch accents? I can actually sense their life attitudes form their language. Everything in Cape Town is too good to be true and I wish I could retire there.”

“[Most of the time I think about] the stories I come up with, if that counts. As I walk and do other mundane tasks, I tend to sketch out plots for novels or films. There have been characters that have bounced around my head for years. I’ve just got to find the right way to get them out.”

“My vision for the future is to have a happy, healthy, and authentic life filled with friends, family, and God. I want to make a difference in the world and lead people towards love and positivity. I’d love to do this through music. Music is my passion and I plan to pursue singing and songwriting full-time when I graduate.”

“I don’t think that there’s ever a been a better time than now to be a woman and I’m so excited to see all the walls we’re able to break down and the new paths we’ll pave for generations of woman to come. As a Muslim American woman, I haven’t necessarily always felt represented in the industries that I’m interested in, especially media and fashion, and I’m so excited to see these industries and all industries diversify with powerful women.”

“Right now, I am working on painting leather and a sweatshirt line which combines art-history with other art forms (by referencing obscure films and popular music artists), but I think eventually I would like to branch out into designing actual garments - or perhaps even shoes. It’s always been my dream to become a fashion-designer, but I don’t really know which side of the field I want to work in yet. Definitely something eclectic, like men’s lingerie or shoes inspired solely by famous renaissance paintings. I’m not sure where I’ll end up.”

"I’m studying for the MCAT so I come here like every day. … This exam — trying to do well. Cause I only have 5 weeks left, so like, it’s like crunch mode right now. … Once in awhile I just go out with my friends, we go out and do random things or I’ll just watch a Netflix show and just relax. … Handmaid’s Tail is really good, have you watched it? … My health’s been pretty good. … I’ve been trying to work out more but I can’t find the time for it. I bought a yoga mat. I did it one day and I was like, 'Oh god, I can’t wake up this early any more.''"

"I'm actually going to work at a theater in New Caanan: they're doing the musical 'James and the Giant Peach' and I'll be playing the lady bug. So yeah, I'm excited. It's just, you know, I have to tie up loose ends, before the end of the year ... We have auditions at the end of the school year for our school musical; and all my exams. Since I'm a music major, it's like, we have 20 kids in each class; so we have all our exams the week before Exam Week. We have them in class; instead of, you know, big lecture halls — they have to have them during exam week. So our exams are a week early, and I'm taking an Irish class. It is the hardest class I've ever taken. It's the Irish language. And there's 5 people in my class. Don't — I wouldn't say don't take it — it's really interesting, but it is the hardest thing I've ever taken. So I'm really worried about that."
"If I could have my dream of where I lived, it would be by Central Park. You know where they live in Gossip Girl? I just need to make a million dollars, live on the Upper East Side."

"The world is going to shit ... just generally, in terms of climate regulation and laws to reproductive rights to general governmental mess, the world is a hot-ass mess ... I definitely think that this is something that’s been on a lot of people's minds. It’s also a general feeling of hopelessness, because on an individual level, it doesn’t seem like there’s a lot that we can do because these things and these problems seem too big to tackle. In reality, there’s a lot we can do, but finding these channels and finding the access to it is hard, and it’s meant to be hard, especially for people of color … In Gallatin now, in the bathrooms, there are free reproductive — like, free period products — for people with vaginas. So that’s pretty exciting. That's really dope. If you’re ever in need, or if anybody you know is ever in need, Gallatin’s got you, in the fourth floor bathroom. That’s what I saw yesterday, and I was super excited. It's the little things, little steps, that are really important."

"Are we going to college to pursue education or just a degree? Because, you know, in Gallatin you can create your own concentration, and it gives you a lot of freedom, but also it makes you kind of lost.
I'm seriously thinking of dropping out ... travel for awhile, start to create my portfolio, maybe meet some industry insiders ...  I'm actually going to talk to my advisor right now."

"I want to start my PHD in the fall, so I’ll probably become a professor. My dad is a professor. He really enjoys that lifestyle and encouraged me: I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go into academia or stay in the job market.
I decided to go into academia, because I like the intellectual freedom of researching whatever I'm passionate about rather than completing work assigned to me. The prospect of contributing new breakthroughs to my field also really excites me."

"I would love to be in an Oscar-worthy movie, but I’d also love to be on the Broadway stage, in an original musical — that's a dream. I'd like the story to be modern day, contemporary, maybe about love and how that is in our times and how it’s different from how it was before. Movies and media are such big parts of our lives. They romanticize love and relationships. It’s part of our psyche — that's what we see. As we grow up, we realize it’s more complicated. It takes more time and more growth. A person could be the person in your life for that one specific moment in time. I think the idea of love, how I viewed it in the past, was that you’re with one person for the rest of your life: you find that one perfect person and it’s over. Now, I think there’s so many other factors when it comes to relationships and love. It’s not as pure and like fairytales as we used to think it was."

"I’ve been singing since I was a kid. I loved exploring different types of music. The internet influenced me; When YouTube was new, I found a lot of my favorite artists. I came to realize that I want to produce my own stuff: It’s been almost a year now. My music is hard to describe ... electric down tempo? It's like James Blake's or Bjork's. I want to use music as a medium to express myself as an artist as a whole. I'm not merely a musician, but an artist of other forms; which I will eventually express through my music videos, the fashion I want to create, social media and in everything else I do. I want to be seen as art. I hope to be an artist who is generally well-acclaimed and appreciated for my eccentricity."

"I'm going into the asset management industry. I want to base the beginning of my career in NYC and max out the steep learning curve ahead of me before even thinking about going back home to Toronto, where my mother can spoil me and the markets are much smaller and strictly controlled. Most of the firms there still invest in companies in the United States but they lack the unique perspective of actually being on the field. I would like to establish a well-connected network that spans beyond New York – a global connection of people that I would not be able to form starting in Toronto. I prefer relationship-building to networking since networking sounds superficial, like a forced interaction to gain something. I just want to find like-minded individuals like boss-ass women tired of old, white men running everything."

"During middle school, I wanted to be a lawyer. I spent a lot of time during the weekends with my dad's friend, a director of a law firm in China. He took me to play golf and I fell in love with the sport's elegance.
At age ten, I tried basketball with one of my best friends and soon enough, I was hooked. I played for the varsity teams at my middle and high schools. One boring summer, a family friend was looking for a tennis partner. My interest in the sport grew as I nursed a crush on a Chinese professional player. My junior year, I decided to focus on sports instead of law after I competed in a citywide basketball competition and met other sports lovers. Sports are comforting to me: I feel I can express myself freely and without hesitation while playing."

"I grew up in Kansas City and played the trumpet for seven years, so jazz has been a big influence on me and the type of music I like. My musical tastes range from r&b to hip hop to pop to country — I don't really see the point in creating genre barriers because at the end of the day music is music. I never ended up pursuing music as a profession, however, because of the instability. I instead decided to major in music business, because it'll immerse me in the music industry and provide me with that coin. My ultimate dream is to be an A&R rep for a major record label discovering talent from all over the world."

“I started an online shopping business in Argentina with a friend. It’s called Mius. It’s a place where every woman can find something that makes her feel beautiful and is accessible to everyone regardless of their socio-economic situation. It promotes small businesses and young, creative people who can’t own their own businesses or don’t have the ability to reach big communities. We launch in April and will be initially shipping within Argentina. Within 6 months, we expect to be able to ship to all of Latin America. In the future, we want to have a partner here to introduce Latin American fashion to the US market.”
