Thrift shopping is one of the best ways to find unique pieces for a low price. London boasts of an amazing selection of thrift shops for all your vintage needs. These are a few of the great spots I’ve stumbled upon so far!
Camden is the bohemian area of London. While walking down the street you’ll find plenty of punk shops mixed in with great pubs and quirky street markets. Rokit has three locations in London but the one in Camden is found along Camden High Street next to several other vintage shops. Rokit offers contemporary thrift clothes organized by article. The prices are cheap and if you’re willing to dig through a lot of thrown out T-shirts, you’re sure to find some amazing pieces here!
Beyond Retro Great Marlborough Street
This location of Beyond Retro is found near Oxford Circus and Carnaby — major shopping areas in Central London. It has a whole wall dedicated to dresses arranged by color, stacks of hats in any style as well as racks of denim and leather jackets. I love the bins of £3.45 scarves and the rack of old dance costumes. Even if you’re not looking to buy anything you are sure to enjoy hours of entertainment just trying things on. While their prices are slightly higher than Rokit's, Beyond Retro has a larger selection of higher quality clothes.
Blue17 Vintage Clothing
Blue17 is in Islington, a neighborhood near King’s Cross Station and Camden Town. Once you’re tired of Camden Market and the pubs of High Street you can visit Blue17, a vintage store that offers men’s and women’s clothing dating from the 1940s to the 90s. Shop racks organized by decade and article and find unique dresses, military wear and accessories for low prices.
Thrift stores and consignment shops are a great way to find quirky pieces and enhance your personal style. These three shops will just get you started — there is certainly no shortage of vintage shops in London!
