Summer Must-See: 5 Best Iced Coffee Spots in NYC
It might not officially be summer yet: but with the rising temperatures, it is definitely iced coffee season. Our jam-packed schedules, filled with summer jobs, internships, summer classes, and whatever else life throws at us, have us all craving a caffeine boost from time to time (every few hours). Here are my top picks for the best iced coffee places around Manhattan to keep you cool and collected all summer.
1. Sant Ambroeus
While these Italian trattorias offer salads, sandwiches, pasta, and pastries, Sant Ambroeus’ coffee is one of the highlights on the menu. They have coffee bars in the Lowes Regency Hotel (on 61st street between Park and Madison avenues) and at Sotheby’s (on York Avenue between 71st and 72nd streets). In the winter, their hot coffee, hot chocolate, and cappuccinos are all amazing options. However, in the sweltering New York City heat, their iced coffee is the perfect pick-me-up—whether you are uptown or downtown.
2. La Colombe
La Colombe is arguably a sacred coffee oasis for NYU students during the school year. In addition to being in proximity to all of our classes 'on campus,' La Colombe also has some amazing coffee. While they might be most famous for their innovative draft latte, which is a delicious summer beverage, their cold brew iced coffee is stellar as well. There are La Colombe locations all over the city, so you will always be able to get your cold-brew caffeine fix.
4. Stumptown Coffee Roasters
Stumptown specializes in cold-brew coffee and has many different varieties—from nitro cold brew to cold brew blended with coconut milk. Additionally, their shops include a full espresso bar, drip coffee, sandwiches, and pastries. If you want coffee with a cool, urban 'hipster' touch, check out Stumptown for amazing iced coffee this summer.
5. Toby’s Estate Coffee
With its Brooklyn-based origins, Toby’s Estate Coffee continues to be one of the most notable coffee chains throughout the city, which prides itself on small-batch coffee roasting. This translates into high-quality coffee for its customer base. Sustainability is also a huge component of the Toby’s Estate Coffee ethos. You can feel good about getting a cup of this consumer-conscious coffee!
As we wind down from the school year and temperatures start to rise, we have iced coffee to keep us chilled out until the fall semester begins.
