Don’t let Your Fashion Fantasy Turn Into a Frenzy: Essentials for NYFW
It’s February–the month known to be full of love, lust, and envy. No, of course I’m not talking about Valentine’s Day; Fashion month is about to commence. Moreover, New York Fashion Week is only days away! Fashion week is incredible: all of the beautiful clothes, the diverse crowd, and the plethora of parties. However, it is also a very stressful time. Everyone is running from one show to another, trying to enjoy and just make it through the day. Here are some ways to prep for this strenuous, yet spectacular week, and to be both comfortable and chic while you’re at it.
1. Shoe Insoles:
Those killer stiletto-heeled booties felt fine this morning, but after four hours of running between venues, you are starting to wish you wore your Stan Smiths (or another fashionable pair of sneakers) instead. If you want to save yourself some pain, but still want to wear a dressier shoe, wear thicker, block-heeled boots, or chic flats. However, we all have those outfits that demand those not so uncomfortable shoes (things we do for Instagram). In these predicaments, buy some insoles like these from your local drugstore to make the day (or night) more bearable.
2. A Warm Coat that Goes with All Your Outfits:
Like your shoes, your choice of outerwear, for the few minutes you’re outside in this freezing New York weather (make sure to layer), can make or break your outfit! Choose a long coat to keep the warmth in, and to give your ensemble a glamorous edge!
3. Energy Bars
If you have never attended fashion week before, prepare to be hungry because I promise you, you will get ravenous. If you don’t prepare, corner delis might be your last resort for some sustenance. Like your outfits, pick some snacks out ahead of time to pack in your bag to avoid this. There are so many different energy bars to choose from. Macrobars, Clif Bars, and Luna Bars are widely available, so stock up now! Here are some more, on-the-go, healthy snack ideas.
4. Cosmetic Emergency Bag
You never know what might happen during the day, especially at NYFW venues, which definitely are places where you don’t want any mishaps. Pack some essentials like chapstick, tampons, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, lipstick, rollerball perfume, etc. to make sure you’re prepared for anything that comes your way. Here is a list of items to have in your portable survival kit so you don’t miss anything that could potentially be your Saving Grace!
5. Goes-With-Everything Pair of Jeans
Jeans can be very easily dressed up or down. Additionally, they keep your legs warm and go with everything. I couldn’t get dressed in the morning without my favorite black jeans. It’s so important to find a pair that suits your shape and style. While you can buy more novelty pairs like these to spice up your look, going back to basics never hurt any style icon.
Hope that everyone is having a great fashion-filled February full of chic clothes and chocolate (and champagne). Stay tuned for more NYFW posts coming to the blog soon!
