Love and Lust List: New and Notable Near NYU

It seems like everyone, especially in the media, equates February with Valentine’s Day. We all know by now that anyone can be your Valentine– your significant other, your best friend, your dog, yourself, etc! However, this Hallmark holiday is also the perfect excuse to express some extra love to our wardrobes, minds, and stomachs. Here are some great places around NYU to shop, see, and eat at now that school semester has commenced!

1. By Chloe SoHo:

We all love this trendy vegan eatery right on campus, conveniently located on Bleecker street. Even though the food is incredible here, sometimes it’s nice to get a change of scene (in this case location). Definitely try out the newly opened ByChloe in SoHo this semester to still get your vegan cravings satisfied.

2. Louis Vuitton’s New SoHo Flagship Store:

Even if some of us have not saved up enough money to indulge in a purchase from this store, the store itself (as well as the products within it) definitely is something to love and lust after. Check out the revamped designer store, which now creates an art-gallery-like ambience, for some aesthetic amusement this season.

3. Miss Paradis:

For the brunch-addicts and foodies among us (probably all of us here, to be honest), there is a new, trendy restaurant in town. Miss Paradis offers healthy Mediterranean food, as well as more traditional brunch food, in a minimalist space right in NoLita. Their offerings range from acai bowls to zucchini noodles to dairy-free ice cream! It’s a great place to check out if you want to stay healthy while eating out with friends.

4. Tomorrowland’s Flagship Store:

This store has been open near campus since the beginning of the school year. However, it is definitely worth visiting on a weekend outing (if you have not already). This Japanese store is an amalgamation of homeware, accessories, and, most prominently, clothes, which are mostly of Tomorrowland’s own brand. It is a breath of fresh air to the designer, SoHo boutique scene. Step off (or, really, right down,) the beaten path to this cool new spot!

5. Fast Forward: Painting from the 1980s at the Whitney Museum:

Going to this retrospective of 1980’s paintings, which showcases the re-commitment to art in this era, is a great way to escape both the cold and the pace of the city. This exhibition is being shown between January 27th and May 14th.

As February continues, while we are in the midst of Fashion Month, sometimes it is necessary to take a break and take time for some self-love and indulgence in leisurely activities. Hopefully this list gives you some inspiration to venture out and go see (and eat at) some new sights!
