NYU.FASHION x Equinox Bond St

Equinox, the temple of luxury fitness, has recently opened a location on Bond Street in close proximity to NYU’s campus. Equinox was kind enough to grant NYU.FASHION a complimentary cycling class and a tour of their new lower Manhattan studio. Read about our experience below and check out the exclusive discount Equinox Bond Street is giving to NYU students interested in starting a membership!

We began the day at noon with “Anthem,” an intense spinning session that focuses on moving to the beat of powerful pump-up tracks. Our class was taught by Lindsay Carson. This was my first time in a cycling class! I have always been intimidated by the fancy equipment and was surprised to find it very easy to follow along with Lindsay. With the dark lights and motivational music blasting, I forgot all about the other cyclists as I focused intently on my own performance and improvement.

Ronny, an Equinox membership advisor, then gave us a tour of the location’s beautiful facilities. It has four different studios on three main levels. Its exposed brick and light-filled spaces reflect the vibrancy of Equinox’s Bond St location. Equinox prides itself on focusing not just on exercise, but also movement, nutrition and regeneration. Doctors even help design workout classes so clients are sure to gain optimal results and become stronger, healthier individuals.

We needed to refuel after that intense workout session, so we grabbed juices on the main floor. Equinox Bond St houses a Juice Press that offers juices, smoothies and water that you can purchase on-the-go.

Equinox also has their own collection of activewear exclusive to each location. From sports bras to yoga mats, you can cultivate your entire fitness ensemble at this location alone. Equinox also sells Kiehl’s skincare products at their locations to keep your face moisturized and refreshed after you leave the studio.

On the lower level of the fitness center is a spa for those in need of some deep-minded relaxation. The spa is open to the public, but members of Equinox are awarded a significant discount. Masseuses communicate directly with the personal trainers to reach beyond the restrictions of a typical fitness club. Massages and facials are perfect for treating our bodies to the tranquility and comfort they deserve for putting up with the crazy rigorous schedules us NYU students tend to upkeep!

To obtain access to the class schedule, I downloaded the Equinox app for free from the App Store. Over 100 classes are offered per week, including cycling (“Anthem,”“The Pursuit: Burn”) athletic training (“Tabata”, “Firestarter”)  and boxing (“The Cut”). Classes are available for booking 26 hours before they start and due to extreme dedication of the member base to Equinox’s popular classes, I've found that it’s best to book my spot in advance. Within the app, you can also track weight loss, how many calories you’ve burned and your overall improvement since joining!

Equinox Bond St is an amazing option for students who are less than impressed by NYU’s somewhat lackluster fitness options. If you value living an active, healthy lifestyle, then Equinox’s state of the art amenities are worth the splurge. Equinox is also giving an exciting discount: the initiation fee for the Bond Street location will be waived, saving up to $500, exclusively for NYU students!
