Back to School Outfit Inspo: Straight From the Runway!
It’s that time of the year again! NYU students are all flooding back to campus and gearing up for another semester of grind and inspiration. What better way to greet the buzz than sporting your best look yet? While winter’s earlier trends of fur coats (whether real or faux) and metallics (on jackets and sneakers) are still going strong, we’ve looked to haute couture and compiled a few new ways to revamp your look and give your wardrobe a mid-winter boost. Here are two trends to consider when planning your campus comeback!
Gucci Pre-Fall 2016
Embroidery : From Silk to Sneaks (and Mesh!)
Mimicking the vibes set forth by fall’s now-fading obsession with intricately embroidered bomber jackets, Gucci’s latest ace sneaker collection ‘17 further exemplified the brand’s flawless ability to add delicately detailed touches to sportswear silhouettes with pin and needle.
Red roses atop black mesh leotards have been dominating the latest debuts of floral embroidery. This piece is the perfect way to add a little edge to your winter wardrobe; longer sleeves can be dressed down during the day with scarves and layers, while sleeveless leotards with sleek cutouts can be the perfect statement piece under a black coat when you’re heading out on the weekends.
Pins and Brooches: From Regal to Playful

Whoever still notes that simplicity is key has obviously not been paying attention. Marc Jacobs Resort ‘17 collection showcased model Bella Hadid in a white mesh top covered in shiny baubles of all sorts; Alexander McQueen’s FW16 collection boasted an array of antique silver pins and brooches that could be used to decorate anything from jackets to hairstyles.

Whether you prefer Marc Jacob’s more vivacious approach of colored jewels and whimsically designed patches or McQueen’s look of luxurious elegance, these accessories are a perfect way to doll up and dazzle out any old set of sweaters that you’ve been dragging through the seasons!
