The first day of school brings about a multitude of emotions: excitement, anxiety, and everything in between. As much as none of us want to start having papers to write and tests to study for again, we all are, at least a little bit, longing for the back to school season so we can get off of Netflix and have more social, productive lives. It means the start of the fall fashion season, which is definitely my favorite sartorial season. This brings me to the questions: So, how exactly should I dress for the first day of school? How do I make a good first impression this school year?

Well, you’re in luck! This is going to be your first-day-of-school outfit guide.

1. Jeans

Whether they’re flared, bootcut, or skinny, jeans have always been a back to school essential. Find a jean cut and rise you feel most confident in, and then feel free to incorporate trendier styles like ripped or embroidered kinds. While the weather's still warm, make jean shorts super chic with a cool, casual band tee and sneakers or dress them up with a sleeveless blouse and some cut-out booties.

2. Tee Shirt Dress

These pajama-like dresses are the perfect way to look chic while feeling ultra comfortable. Pair a simple or patterned tee shirt dress with some chunky jewelry and oversized sunglasses, and viola! You are ready to head to class.

3. Bomber Jackets

Even though it’s still hot outside, inside the classrooms, it feels like winter. The heavy air conditioning makes it hard to focus in class without that extra layer. Bomber jackets are the perfect first day of school-ers. Plus, there are so many different styles, colors, and accents on these jackets that you are sure to find the right one (or in my case many) for you.

4. White Sneakers

These sporty, yet stylish, shoes pair perfectly with almost any school ensemble from shorts to dresses to pants. Moreover, they are available over a wide price range. Thus, making them very easy to incorporate into your wardrobe.

5. Rompers and Jumpsuits

Just like dresses, these are essentials for back to school because it takes the guesswork out of pairing separates together in the morning or the night before class. Having a few comfortable ones in hand can make those mornings you just cannot wake up so much easier. Throw on a cute romper, a statement necklace, and some booties or sneakers and you are set for the day!

Good luck to everyone this school year! Stay studious and stylish!
